Ride for Freedom

category: Uncategorized author: Chef Mario

On June 28, 2009, Soprano’s Catering once again did the food for the Ride For Freedom Harley Davidson Motorcycle Ride in conjunction with Wolverine Harley Davidson. Although the ride was down to 1000 people (from 1600 last year), the weather held out, and we had a safe ride. We served Philly Steak Sandwiches, Baby Back Ribs, and all the fixings. The ride helped to support the Vietnam Veterans of America.

“Voices of a Never Ending Dawn”

category: Uncategorized author: Chef Mario

We did a 300 person, Black Tie, movie premier, at the war memorial, at the White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. It was a beautiful affair. There where many, Who’s Who type of people in the crowd. State Rep’s, Police Chiefs, Army Officers with more brass on their shirt than you could imagine. Senator Carl Levin was also there. The Movie was about the “Polar Bears”. Not the Fuzzy kind. They were a World War I platoon of individuals. mostly from Kalamazoo. They were told by the Army that they were going to France. Instead, they were shipped to the upper regions of Russia. Where these brave men fought on the northern most front. Lack of supplies. Lack of food. Barely any medical. One tale of how a soldier shot in the leg had to wait 6 weeks for treatment. They were brave. Some of the most decorated men in World War I. They were also forgotten. Fighting 9 months after the war was over. Now I did not see the movie. But I will be looking forward to seeing it soon. Respectfully, Chef Mario

The Discovery Channel

category: Uncategorized author: Chef Mario

Soprano’s Catering is doing catering for a Documentary being filmed by the Discovery Channel on the subject of “Habitat for Humanity”. It’s a small 3 day shoot. Can’t wait to see the final work. We love catering for motion pictures and the film industry. It’s where the Magic happens.

Channel 7 WXYZ

category: Uncategorized author: Chef Mario

We were doing a catering event for the Channel 7 new department just yesterday. The Vice President of channel 7 was speaking. There were about 90 people at this catered affair. As Mr Vice President was talking to the troops, he stopped mid stream and said, “You know, we always do these events at A…..(this is a great Restaurant that you all know). But you know this food is better, and we paid a lot less for it.” Then he, and 90 other people stood up and clapped for our onsite staff. How Great Is That!!
